Description
The MOD-3 Modular Night Vision System solves the compromises and failure points common when bridging two monoculars. At its core are sealed, waterproof Optical Pods that can be rapidly installed or removed from either the MOD-3 Binocular Bridge or the MOD-3 Monocular Adapter with a single-finger latch for seconds-fast reconfiguration.
Key features and benefits
• Modular design: swap Optical Pods between monocular and binocular configurations in seconds without tools.
• Robust electrical contacts: spring-loaded, gold-plated contacts (including plated springs) conduct power and status signals while resisting corrosion.
• Wire-free bridge joint: power is routed through plated contacts into a bridge circuit board, eliminating flexing wires at the IP joint and removing a common failure point.
• Precision IP adjustment: AVS-style IP screws with ball-detent bumps hold settings against vibration and allow reliable collimation.
• Integrated illumination and status: bridge and monocular housings include IR flood LED (accepts IR Spot/Flood adapters used on PVS-7), IR “on” indicator visible in the viewing plane, and a low-battery warning.
• Waterproof, rugged housings: optical pods and monocular housings are sealed for field use; finishes are media-blasted and anodized for durability, with optional Cerakote over anodize for the TAN version.
• Low weight and balance: MOD-3 Binocular weight — 618 grams; MOD-3 Monocular Adapter is approximately 75 grams lighter than a comparable PVS-14, improving comfort during extended wear.
• Fast deployment: latching mechanism and spring contacts let operators change configurations rapidly while maintaining a secure, repeatable connection.
Binocular Bridge details
The MOD-3 Binocular Bridge accepts two Optical Pods to form a full-function binocular with IP adjustment, dovetail mount, IR LED and on-plane IR indicators, and low-battery warning. The plated-contact power path and robust latching mechanism ensure repeatable alignment and long-term reliability even under frequent configuration changes.
Monocular Adapter details
The MOD-3 Monocular Adapter converts a single Optical Pod into a self-contained monocular. It offers the same circuitry found in the bridge (IR flood, IR “on” indicator, low battery warning), accepts a standard 3V lithium cell, and supports PVS-7-style IR Spot/Flood adapters. The monocular housing includes a side mount for standard head and weapon mounting and retains the quick-release pod latch for instant changeover.
Finish and color options
Available in black or tan. Black units are media-blasted and black-anodized for a non-reflective matte finish; tan units receive Cerakote over the anodize for a tough, attractive, field-ready coating.
What operators get
A flexible, durable modular night vision ecosystem that reduces the need to buy and carry multiple dedicated monoculars and binoculars, eliminates fragile wiring in moving joints, and delivers fast configuration changes with field-grade durability and corrosion-resistant electrical contacts.
