This is the PVS-14 light pipe. It is a thin clear polymer ring that sits on the eyepiece side of the image intensifier and is captured by the tube retainer.
The battery housing LEDs (low battery and IR-on) do not shine directly into the ocular. The light pipe routes that light to the user’s view.
Install it before the tube retainer. It is not a power part and it does not substitute for the retainer.
