Remaining one of the lightest articulating night vision binocular housings available, the Katana incorporates onboard power while maintaining an exceptionally low-profile and minimalist design. Its articulating architecture allows each pod to power off independently when rotated outward, enabling seamless transition between single-eye and dual-eye use while reducing backsplash when stowed or articulated.
Constructed from a high-strength hybrid fiber reinforced injection-molded polymer, the Katana housing is engineered to provide exceptional durability while keeping overall system weight to a minimum. This advanced composite material is designed to rival the tensile strength of traditional aluminum housings without the added mass. The binocular is powered by a single onboard CR123A battery and offers optional remote power capability through a LEMO port, allowing users to extend runtime while keeping the bridge footprint compact.
The Katana’s low-profile form factor improves mobility when mounting or dismounting vehicles, particularly when the unit is stowed. A push-button power interface integrated into the battery cap eliminates the need for additional switches, further reducing weight and complexity. The system features a friction-lock interpupillary adjustment mechanism that allows users to set IPD without tools and retain that setting during use.
